Tacoma Friends Meeting Announcements
Hi Friends, last week’s first virtual meeting (via Zoom) was a success with smiles and animal friends filling the monitor screens. Come join us this week at 10:00 a.m. for silent worship, followed by a short break (still live) and then another first for 2nd Hour – Virtual Potluck. Instead of bringing food to share, this will be more like a “Show and Tell” format. We want to hear about the books you love, your hobbies, and your beloved children, grandchildren and animal friends.
If this will be your first Zoom meeting, I suggest you join the meeting a few minutes early to make sure your audio is working and you understand Zoom meeting basics. There will also be an option to join the meeting by phone if that is more convenient. An email will go out to the meeting email list on Saturday, 4/4/2020, with a link to the meeting and phone-in details.
This has been a challenging time. We’ve heard and read about the struggles and grief many people are enduring. Many of us are experiencing these things either personally or within our close circle of family and loved ones. If what you have to bring to this potluck is “Tear Soup” (book by Pat Schwiebert), then do so. You will find people who will share it with you and be happy to talk with you privately.
If you would like to know more about the book, Tear Soup, you can hear a reading of it on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2L-E9P6snk. It may speak to your own sense of loss (whatever that may be) and is an excellent primer on how to be a compassionate listener.
“We’re all in this together” is true. Let us speak this truth with the power of love and build community by supporting and nurturing relationships; by walking with each other via phone calls, emails, cards and letters, and yes, virtual meetings.
Come join us,
Verna Lilly, Clerk
